It was the first party of the year, held at the Banks residence, a place Knowledge had found herself a handful of times during the past few years. It was typical, considering that Nollie had been part of the party scene of West Clair Valley since the beginning of her freshman year. It was the party after the first football game, and as was standard, the party was being held at one of the football player's houses. Finley Banks wasn't just any football payer, though. He was the co-captain, and one of Nollie's close friends. They were both active in sports, so it was impossible for them not to notice each other. Not only that, but they were both attractive people, and Nollie couldn't help but flirt with the muscular male on occasion. She had watched the game, which had led to an awesome victory, and boy was she ready to celebrate.
Knowledge headed home in order to prepare for the party. She couldn't show up in just anything, as that's not how parties worked in West Clair Valley. At least, for the females in the upper-level groups: populars, preps, athletes, etc. As a female, Nollie had her image to protect, which she did with a variety of designer dresses and shoes. She slipped into her newest dress, that she had picked for just this occasion and sat down at her vanity table.
Half an hour later, she glanced into the mirror, admiring her brief transformation. Her hair was mastered into an updo, with a few loose strand left hanging about and her make up just added to her natural glow. She smiled at what she had accomplished in such little time and threw some essentials into her little black clutch. This list was short, but included: cell phone, gloss, mascara, and spearmint gum. After slipping on her cute, classic, yet sensible three inch heels, she headed out the door.
Nollie was known for being a bit of a speed demon, and it hadn't taken very much time to get to the Banks residence in the first place, it was finding a parking space that was a bit more of a tragedy. Nollie squeezed her black convertible into a tiny space about half a block away from the house, walking over there. She wasn't used to showing up to these things alone, but what was she to do? She was a single girl now.
When she stepped inside the party, Nollie was instantly glad that she had showed up a little late because the party was on full blast and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The blonde made her way to the kitchen, heading over to the keg and pouring herself a drink into the ever-so-classy red plastic cup, wondering just where Finley kept his hard alcohol as beer was not going to cut it for the night. Of course, it was always easy to get alcohol off of guys, you just needed to pay attention to them and act a little bit more tipsy than you were. Simple, really.
Knowledge leaned against the frame leading into the kitchen and sipped at her drink while looking at her surroundings. People were dancing, talking, and girls were laughing a little too obnoxiously. Yep, this was high school. A few of her friends stopped to talk to her in passing, but she still felt strange. Nollie half-walk, half-danced through the crowd and made her way out onto the back deck, which (unsurprisingly) featured a nice view. She sighed, lifting the cup to her lips again, drinking the contents slowly. She wouldn't be her normally bubbly self until she got whatever it was off her mind.
